A smattering of departing loanees is likely to be the sum of Liverpool’s transfer deadline day with Danns the headliner.
Liverpool are set for a quiet deadline day with no incomings expected as well as no likely significant departures and any players who do leave likely to be leaving on loan in search of playing time in the second half of the 2024-25 season.
The headliner on that front is likely to be Jayden Danns, with the standout 19-year-old striker on the fringes of Liverpool’s first team having made four senior appearances this season but unlikely to feature significantly this season if he sticks around.
Over the past few hours, Sunderland have emerged as favourites to sign Danns for the remainder of the season, and now multiple reports have Danns travelling to the north-east to undergo a medical with the Championship promotion hopefuls.
Sunderland currently sit fourth, solidly in the playoff places but six and eight points back of Sheffield and league leaders Leeds United. They then have an eleven point buffer on the side in seventh, currently Middlesborough.
They also need a little help up front, and hopefully that will make them a solid destination for Danns for a couple of months so that the young talent can get some significant senior minutes under his belt before returning to Liverpool.
